Fun-Facts!
Why did we choose the color orange for our team; our school colors are navy blue and white... Because we felt like it!
In reality, our color (which is Safety Orange #ff7900), helps us stand out in crowds and at events. It makes it easier for judges and other teams to find us, and helps us win the Team Spirit Award, which we have won five times! |
Wondering how we name our robots? Usually, it's an inside joke, a reference to pop-culture, or a tribute.
For example... Frank (2024) - References Frankenstein, due to how the robot utilized many components scavenged from previous robots. Petey (2023) - References Petey Piranha from Super Mario, due to the similarity of the claw to the character. Frozone (2022) - References Frozone from The Incredible's, due to the radio being labeled "Super Suit", which in turn was labeled that way in 2019 due to the "Super Suit" meme. 4-KE (2020/2021) - References Forky from Toy Story 4, due to the popularity of the movie and character at the time, styled like a Star War's Droid to fit the theme of INFINITE RECHARGE. |
Where do we build our robots? Throughout the years, our build-site has constantly shifted.
Our team was originally based out of a classroom on the 2nd floor at Marysville High School; it was quite the effort to move things around! Starting in 2019, we moved into another room, this time on the ground floor. After the COVID-19 pandemic, we shifted to a new facility, the Blue Water Robotics Center (BWRC) based in Port Huron, MI. This facility contains a full-size practice field, and accommodation for every team in St. Clair County. After spending the 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 seasons at the BWRC, Marysville High School graciously provided the team with two dedicated rooms, including a permanent build space, which is where we are today and hopefully for years to come! |
